Season 2 of the Supa Pro League Gauteng Premier Division got underway last night at Billiard Café Rivonia, and the opening matches delivered everything fans could have hoped for — big scores, tight battles, and standout performances from both seasoned contenders and newly promoted players.
Llewellyn Sedgwick Makes a Statement
It was Llewellyn Sedgwick who made the strongest start of the new season, cruising to an emphatic 11–1 victory in his opener over an out-of-sorts Nico Erasmus. With 9 frames won and 2 bonus points from breaks and finishes, Sedgwick tops the early leaderboard on 11 points, setting the tone for what could be another dominant campaign.
Shane Pillay Holds His Ground
In one of the most entertaining matches of the evening, Shane Pillay had to dig deep after Aron Donohue came out the gates at a fast pace securing a 4-0 lead. Shane came to the party and managed to secure 8 points with 2 apples in a row, finishing the match with an 8-5 victory.
Ketan Nydoo Impresses the Crowd
Ketan’s game started strong, and it looked like he was going to bag a lot more points than he ended up with. One or two unlucky kisses and shots allowed for Season 1’s number 2, Nsovo Mathonsi to secure some frames to level up the match at 6 each by the conclusion.
Lucas in Unfamiliar Territory
Despite Lucas Venter’s consistency being brought through from Season 1 with a win over newcomer Annan Naidoo, he finds himself 5th on the leaderboard, a far way from his comfortable number 1 spot he enjoyed last season. It’s early days though and both him and Annan will have to come next week with breaks and finishes in mind.
Veterans and Newcomers Set the Pace
The bottom half of the table remains tightly packed after Round 1, with Aron Donohue, Annan Naidoo, and Nico Erasmus all showing glimpses of their capabilities despite opening-round setbacks. With just a few points separating mid-table from the leaders, the competition is already shaping up to be fiercely contested.

With the season now underway and momentum starting to build, all eyes turn to Round 2 where players will look to cement their positions and early favourites will try to hold off a hungry chasing pack.
